What changed in 2026 (and why it helps you)

FSSAI revised its rules in March 2026. Many sites still show the old limits.

Basic covers up to ₹1.5 croreFrom 1 April 2026, Basic Registration covers food businesses with turnover up to ₹1.5 crore (it was ₹12 lakh). Most small businesses now need only Basic.
No more renewalsRegistrations and licences now stay valid until suspended, cancelled or surrendered. You don't need to renew every few years.
Rules still applyHygiene, display of your FSSAI number, and annual returns for licence holders still apply. We'll tell you what applies to you.

Questions

Are you FSSAI or a government office?

No. We are a private service that prepares and files your application. You can also apply yourself at foscos.fssai.gov.in. Our fee is for saving you the time and getting it right the first time.

When do I pay?

For Basic Registration, you pay our ₹999 only after we file and you receive your FoSCoS application number. The government fee is paid on the official portal and you get the receipt.

How long does the certificate take?

We file within 24 hours of complete documents. The certificate is issued by the food safety department. Basic registrations are often issued within a few working days to a couple of weeks, but we can't control the department's timeline.

I sell from home. Do I still need FSSAI?

Yes. Every food business, including home bakers, tiffin services and online sellers, needs at least a Basic Registration. Swiggy, Zomato, Amazon and other platforms ask for your FSSAI number.

I have an old FSSAI. Do I need to renew it?

Under the 2026 amendment, registrations and licences no longer need routine renewal. If you've changed address, products or business name, you need a modification. Message us and we'll check yours.
